Primech A & P has spent the past several years doing exactly that. In 2024, we were recognised as a LowCarbonSG Awardee by the UN Global Compact Network Singapore (UNGCNS) — a programme that honours companies with demonstrated, measurable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, not simply ambition. Why Low-Carbon Facility Services Are Harder in Singapore
Singapore’s density and limited access to renewable energy sources mean local businesses cannot rely on the geographic shortcuts available to larger economies. What We’ve Changed: Fleet, Energy and Cleaning Technology
Our sustainability strategy is aligned with the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and centres on four areas:
- Fleet electrification — replacing 20 diesel-powered operational vans with electric vehicles, supported by EV charging stations installed at our headquarters.
- Renewable energy — rooftop solar panels at our headquarters generate clean electricity, paired with LED lighting, water-efficient fixtures and a dedicated monitoring system to track solar performance.
- Chemical-free cleaning technology — our Primech AI-developed Hytron robot uses electrolysed water instead of chemicals for automated toilet cleaning, and we deploy Tersano Lotus PRO Stabilized Aqueous Ozone (SAO) generators, which convert tap water into a chemical-free disinfectant suitable for sensitive sites such as classrooms and childcare centres.
- Green-certified consumables — Singapore Green Label-certified cleaning products and supplies are used across our operations.
Beyond technology, we’ve built low-carbon habits into daily operations: paperless workflows, switching off non-essential air-conditioning during lunch hours, and hybrid work arrangements that reduce commuting emissions. We also work directly with clients to introduce more sustainable cleaning options on their sites.
Measurable Results
The shift to electric vehicles has already delivered a meaningful cut in fleet carbon emissions, with further gains coming from route optimisation and better fleet utilisation as the rollout matures. Our solar installation and energy-efficient systems are generating ongoing energy savings, with more improvement expected as we continue to optimise performance. For UNGCNS and the LowCarbonSG programme, this kind of consistent, evidenced progress — not a one-off announcement — is what qualifies a company as an awardee.
The Real Challenges Behind the Numbers
None of this happened without friction. Collecting consistent emissions data across a large workforce and many client sites took time and new processes to get right. Shifting everyday habits — like remembering to power down non-essential systems — required sustained communication, not a single memo. And committing capital to EVs, solar panels and robotics meant accepting that the returns would show up over years, not months. What kept the programme moving was leadership commitment and a workforce that understood why it mattered.
